The Bottom Line
The Budge Premier Tyvek car cover comes in no less than 7 different sizes to fit your vehicle. Even though it’s rated as water resistant, we would not recommend using it if your vehicle is exposed to the elements often. It performs well in sunny climates and provides good UV, dust and dirt protection. Customer reviews are largely positive. We would recommend this cover for warm climates and for the mostly indoor usage.
We rate this cover 3.7 out of 5 stars. Let’s take a better look!
What You Get
One white car cover with a full elastic hem with attachable adhesive grommets for a secure fit. A storage bag is also included in the package.
Features & Benefits
The cover comes in no less than 7 different sizes to fit your vehicle, whether it be a car, truck, SUV, van, station wagon or hatchback. Before ordering this product, be sure to measure your vehicle and select the proper size when ordering to ensure a proper fit on your vehicle.
An elastic hem that goes around the whole cover helps keep the cover in place, but at the same makes it a little difficult to put on the car sometimes. See if you can enlist a friend or family member to help you put it on and you’ll be all set in no-time. It also comes with adhesive grommets you can attach just above the hem, allowing you to tie it down even more.
This cover is actually one of the few (that we know of) that is made of a DuPont material called Tyvek. You’ll probably recognize it as the protective wrap used on the outside of your house, but it has more uses than that, car covers being one of them. Therefore, as you would expect, it is very breathable, UV resistant and water-repellant. When you think about it, those are exactly the qualities you would be looking for in a protective car cover.
Aside from those advantages, this cover also provides protection against tree sap, bird droppings, dirt, dust, harsh sun and light rain.
The cover comes with a very respectable 5 years of warranty, is very lightweight and easy to handle and, maybe best of all, is made right here in the USA.
So, How Does It Perform?
Most of the car covers we’ve reviewed so far are multi-layered, but the Budge Premier Tyvek only consists of a single layer of the Tyvek material described above. For that reason, it’s not as strong as some of the other products out there.
The other side of the coin is that the material holds up very well in sunny and hot climates (looking at you, southern US). It has excellent UV protection and because the cover is white, it definitely helps keep that temperature in your car down while covered. Sometimes even up to 30 degrees!
Not only does it do well in sunny weather, it also performs well for keeping dust and dirt off your vehicle. It doesn’t stick to the cover, so it’s easy to keep clean and tidy.
Assuming you’ve selected and bought the right size for your cover, fit is good. The full elastic hem definitely helps keep it on, except when exposed to windy conditions. Luckily the included adhesive grommets allow you to further tie it down for some extra security.
This cover is not for you if your vehicle is exposed to lots of wind, rain or snow. It’s not rated to be waterproof and not recommended for extended, long-term outdoor use. Keep that in mind when choosing the cover that’s right for your situation.
